PS Tutorial Dotted Line

Here's a way to draw a dotted line that follows a selection or path border

Save your selection!!.

Then use the Make Work Path menu item in the Paths palette to convert your selection to a path

Re-load your selection, and use the Select>Modify Border menu item to convert it to a border whose width matches your intended line width.
Load a circular hard brush whose diameter matches the length of your dotted line segments.

In this case we use a 9 pixel brush.

Click on the selected brush image to bring up it's edit window.

Make a copy of the brush.

Set the spacing of the brush to 100 or so.  If you don't like the spacing later, come back to this step.
Click on the Paths tab to enable the Paths palette.

Then click on the path you created, and use the Stroke Path menu item to stroke the path with the brush.

This draws the dotted line.

Here is the finished product.

If the spacing between the dashes is wrong, undo, adjust the brush spacing and try again.
