These tests used a Nikon CoolPix 990, firmware v1.1, in manual mode. For these tests, the shutter pressed halfway to eliminate the pre-focus delay, and timing accuracy is plus or minus a few tenths of a second.
Conclusion: 99.9 percent of my images are jpeg fine quality, so for me there is no significant difference in transfer time for ordinary use. But for the handful of tiff files I do each year, I'll reach for the Viking card. For more CF timings, see Bryan Biggers's page. |
